The smaller end of Waist is the measurement when the lacing up on the back is tightened to the smallest. The larger end of Waist is the recommended max waist measurement for the size(The actual max stretch of the waist is larger). However, if your Waist is near/on the larger end of the listed Waist measurement, it's recommended to order the next size available in case of tight fitting(For your reference only).
